Every Parent Must Follow These Summer Care Tips For Babies, Summer is just around the corner, so most of the mothers especially new mothers are very much worried about how to take care of their little one during summer, which brings along with it crouching heat sunrays and hot wind. If you are a new mom don’t panic. Here are few baby care tips for you to follow.
Keep your baby hydrated:
Keep your baby well hydrated with enough quantity of water as per your baby’s requirement. Water replenishes body’s lost fluids. You can also provide juices, milk shakes, coconut water and lassi for your little one. You don’t need to give water pretty to babies under six months of age. If you are breastfeeding your baby, make sure you drink plenty of water.
Choose the right clothing for your baby when your baby is indoors. Before purchasing the clothes remember that the clothes should be comfortable, made of soft colorful material, you can even go for sleeveless, strappy sleeves and loose fitted clothing.
Diaper rash is most common in summer. So use less diapers or use cloth diapers in summer. Keep diaper free at home. If you are using diapers kepp changing the diaper very often. Clean the area well and apply diaper rash cream.
Do not cook and keep baby food for too long, as the chances of food getting spoiled easily during summers is more that in other seasons, that’s because of the reaction like oxidation, hydrolysis are faster in high temperature. Try giving your baby food that they enjoys more often. If your baby is fussy decrease the quantity of food and increase the number of meals, so that your baby gets enough food. Do not serve hot food during summers. Provide food with cooling properties like cucumber, watermelon, banana, apples and coconut water. Avoid heat food like mangoes, chicken, mutton, prawns, nuts, cocoa and chocolates.
Bathe your baby with lukewarm water daily, use some mild soap. Do not expose your baby to AC immediately after bath. Apply a thin layer of moisturizer after bath and massage it well into your baby skin to keep your baby hydrated. To protect your baby from prickly heat rashes during hot humid weather, try using a good prickly heat powder. Prickly heat powder gives instant cooling on skin and provides relief from itching and burning sensation
Precautions to be taken while going out:
Avoid stepping out with your baby abu from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If extreme cases you cannot avoid, always cover your baby’s head with a cap or carry an umbrella. Put on full sleeves cotton clothes, choose light- colored clothes to protect the skin from harsh rays. Carry enough water with you.
Air conditioner settings:
If you use an AC then AC temperature should not exceed 24 to 26 degrees celsius. Do not change the settings too often.
Good sleeping tips:
Before going to sleep, sponge your baby with lukewarm water, wipe dry and apply moisturizer and massage it into your baby’s skin. Sleep in well ventilated room.
